2024 - Present

This project aims to shed light on a lesser-known issue: the challenges faced by people with albinism in Africa.

Individuals with albinism are significantly at risk in most African countries. They face various forms of targeting from criminal networks that involve witch doctors, kidnappers, traffickers, and killers. They may be abducted, trafficked across cities, villages or countries, subjected to violence resulting in dismemberment for body parts, or even have their graves desecrated for organ removal. Regrettably, in numerous African countries, efforts to promote societal acceptance of people with albinism are minimal.

The goal of these photographs is to emphasize and share the unique qualities of each individual, fostering empathy and understanding. The situation for people with albinism in Africa needs significant change, and with increased public awareness, there is hope for improvement. Photography is a powerful tool to achieve this goal, and that's the purpose of this project.

I have teamed-up with Aminata Diallo, Founder of the school KPAAF & Mina Foundation Guinea, a nonprofit organization (501c3) that helps empower African youth through education. Together, and with the support of her foundation, we have already produced several photo sessions across the country and we are planning more in the up-coming months.
